I realize that I didn't post much last week, but I'm unsure if my audience has waned away since there have been no comments. Just hope someone is out there.Sunday I took a day trip to North Berwick. A wonderful place. On the edge of the Firth of Fourth and the North Sea, this quaint little town was a great visit. We took the train and avoided the "Embra"
rain that has been plaguing us for the last week. When we arrived in North Berwick, it was sunny and beautiful.North Berwick has one distinctive feature: Bass Rock. The volcanic island was once the site of a prison, much like Alcatraz, but now it has been retooled into a bird sanctuary (a bit ironic turning a strong house that prevents convicts from gaining liberty to housing birds who can escape with ease). The island is black rock, and the white you see in the pictures is
not snow, but flocks of birds, including Puffins! I took a picture of through the viewing telescopes to prove it, though they didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted them to.After viewing the Seabird center, we walked along the beach, got our feet wet, looked for critters, and generally enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. On the way back to the train, we stopped for ice cream.
I had raspberry ripple, the best ice cream I've had in a long time, and I also treated myself to some Turkish delight, which was quite a bit better than any I've had in the States. I'll have to see if I can bring some home. You can see the pictures from the trip on the latest pics slide show to the right.

Oh. I saw Joan Rivers in Edinburgh. No kidding, in her plastic surgery glory. She was on the side of the street, there with her entourage/cronies, braving the masses of adoring fans (ok that last bit was made up). She is in Edinburgh for the Festival doing some subpar comedy no doubt.
And that is the latest for Monday.

The Firth of Fourth. I didn't misspell. The Firth of Fourth is a river.
