Good morning

Yesterday was another busy day. The lecture was again the highlight, this one on Virginia Woolf. It is funny; I constantly crave being steeped in literature, and I always feel so happy when I really digest it, the fibers and textures working their way throughout me. The opportunities are rare and I count myself lucky to be able to throw myself into this again. I've already tucked away dozens of ideas, quotes, and passages for AP literature and my upcoming War Lit course next year.

After lunch and coffee, I took the groups into the city to visit the Scottish Poetry Library. It was very nice to revisit, and I found some more Edwin Morgan poems that I really like. Afterwards, I finally had some free time to myself for a bit and while the SUISS students ostensibly went and toured the Royal Mile, I did some shopping at the charity book shops for yellowing books from the 1920's. Also, I hired a proper kilt for the ceilidh on Friday. I'm happy to say that I have been wearing mine correctly all along. The dance will be tons of fun, more so because of the kilt I'm sure. I stopped off at Piemaker for my first scotch pie since I've been here and was in blissful heaven for the 4 min it took me to consume the contents.

I ended the day with another run around Arthur's Seat. The weather has been perfect, and the wind carried the scent of thistles to my nose as I ran. This time, I went the back way around the seat, and even tried to take the hill a bit. The incline is so deceptive -- green pastureland-like grass makes up the base of the climb and seems benign, but once you step upon it, the soft grass curling in between your toes, you realize that the incline is far sharper than you had imagined it. Oh, and while out, I saw some people in toe-shoes while walking in Cannongate!

Today looks like another fine day for weather, not a cloud in the sky. Scotland is spoiling me.

I've been so busy that I haven't' been able to take out my camera; I haven't even had a chance to figure out what to do for my free time this weekend. I'd like to go for a hike. We will see what I can come up with.

I love running in beautiful places. It always seems centering. Like you're supposed to be there!
