Not much to report today except how wonderful it is to be in Edinburgh again. The train was delayed by two hours, but the second I stepped into Waverley station, all of the wait was worth it.At first, I thought it may take me a bit to get oriented, but as soon as I stepped off the train, I was on auto pilot. I stepped out of the station, paid my respects to the Walter Scott Monument, then trudged up the hill to access South Bridge, as I have so many times before.
The rain started immediately. Fine, beautiful, Scottish sunshine.
The scaffolding along South Bridge street is gone, which was a pleasant surprise - the construction being completed a few years ago, likely. It was a bit surreal. As I walked, memories flooded through my brain. I passed the The Malt Shovel and The Royal Oak, then our favorite coffee haunts, Kilimanjaro Coffee, Bean Scene, Black Medicine Coffee. So many days of coffee with friends there. Then street names: Cowgate, Drummond, Nicolson, Clerk, Pleasance, St Leonards, Montague.
I passed the music shop where I saw a banjo in the window, and I wanted to learn how to play it (and actually did a few years later).
Pie Maker is still there, looking forward to getting a meat pie soon, but McEwan's (my favorite pub from last time) is renamed, now it is the Ale House. (They are still selling McEwans 80 shilling Cask conditioned ale, Phil. All is still right in the world).

I can't really really explain the feelings of joy I had when I beheld Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags again.
In short, I felt right at home.
Early night in, and the start of the program tomorrow.
