SHOPPING! Lots of fun today. We (Frankie, Rach, Courtney, and I)went to Stockbridge, an area with lots of secondhand charity shops. I bought a shirt, and two books published in 1920's. The shirt you can see. The books were a few plays from George Bernard Shaw in their original printing, and a collection of less known Elizabethian plays which include Thomas Kyd's "Spanish Tragedy." All this for under £10. I will be going back tomorrow with the intent of buying a few jackets for next year, and maybe another shirt or two.
I have gotten some backlash today at the dinner table for not talking about my comrades in Scotland more. Thus, I give you a quick comment about those involved.Nora is a snappy dresser, a huge Black Magic fan, and has a death wish when crossing roads because she still thinks she is from New York. Oh, and she approves of my lifestyle, whatever that means. Her approval, however, does not extend from the fact that I have taught a short story that I never read to my students. (And I still haven't read it). Teacher guilt has no hold on me.
Frankie loves life, but not meat. I don't really understand how the two can be reconciled. She puts up with many of my (not funny) jokes, laughing at most of them. I really doubt if she has any dependable sense of humour at all.
Courtney has the best "hat sense" of any human being on the planet, grabbing two great hats in two days.
Phil has a cybernetic implant within his leg that filters out the potentially lethal forms of poison from what he ingests. When he went to Dublin, I think the entire city tapped out. Yet, he understands perfectly, the simple poetic nature of Jem Casey's "Pint of Plain is yer only man."
There, I think I covered the basics. Sorry for the inside jokes. I said I would post them.
At night we went to this really cool bar. I don't remember the name, but they were beating tribal drums. It was quite odd, and good at the same time.
'Til next time. Cheers!
